But OK…it’s really not

The performance from Everton at St Mary’s yesterday was unacceptable on so many levels. Slow out of the blocks, yet again Persisting with apparently disinterested, driftwood players Refusal to pick or involve any youngsters A pathetic 8 mins of two strikers  With another six or seven games to go before any reinforcements can be brought in (inc Man U, Arsenal & Liverpool at home) you wonder where the next point is coming from. A flying start in the August sunshine v Spurs, & a sublime second half hat-trick from Lukaku at Sunderland seem light years ago. More worrying still, what … Continue reading But OK…it’s really not

One swallow…

.. doesn’t make a summer, we are told, and Evertonians can often view the glass as half-empty rather than half-full. However, there were encouraging green shoots (Ed: enough of the Countryfile references!) in Ross Barkley’s performance yesterday to give us hope of a sunnier future for him and the team. Plus Palace have a great recent record … Continue reading Negative Voices

A Family Affair

Listening to the Dr David France interview on ToffeeTV earlier in the week, he recounted how his Dad told him he couldn’t have a bike for Christmas because he’d already given him the greatest gift of all: Everton. My first game with my Dad was Man City at home 26 Dec 1973 (2-0 win), and my son Glenn’s against the same opponents in January 2008 (1-0, Lescott). Over the years we have shared the ups and the downs. I’m a wimp who hates fairground rides and rollercoasters in … Continue reading A Family Affair
