Don’t worry, this won’t take long, just a quick update.
On the 20th Feb I did an analysis of results against the “Top 6” for the other 14 Clubs in the Premier League.
At that time, it made pretty grim reading for Evertonians, with only Brighton below us.
I have now updated the table below with an additional two rounds of games and, most notably, following Brighton’s win over Arsenal yesterday. Sadly that relegates Everton to bottom; our blushes could only have been saved had Huddersfield shipped another couple at Wembley v Spurs.
P | W | D | L | F | A | GD | Pts | |
Watford | 8 | 2 | 2 | 4 | 15 | 23 | -8 | 8 |
Burnley | 10 | 1 | 4 | 5 | 9 | 17 | -8 | 7 |
Swansea City | 9 | 2 | 1 | 6 | 5 | 19 | -14 | 7 |
West Ham | 8 | 1 | 2 | 5 | 7 | 18 | -11 | 5 |
Leicester City | 10 | 1 | 2 | 7 | 12 | 23 | -11 | 5 |
Newcastle | 9 | 1 | 1 | 7 | 5 | 17 | -12 | 4 |
Crystal Palace | 9 | 1 | 1 | 7 | 5 | 20 | -15 | 4 |
Stoke City | 8 | 1 | 1 | 6 | 6 | 29 | -23 | 4 |
Southampton | 9 | 0 | 3 | 6 | 5 | 16 | -11 | 3 |
WBA | 9 | 0 | 3 | 6 | 5 | 19 | -14 | 3 |
Brighton | 8 | 1 | 0 | 7 | 3 | 19 | -16 | 3 |
AFC Bournemouth | 9 | 1 | 0 | 8 | 3 | 20 | -17 | 3 |
Huddersfield | 9 | 1 | 0 | 8 | 4 | 25 | -21 | 3 |
Everton | 10 | 0 | 3 | 7 | 5 | 27 | -22 | 3 |
Nothing more to add; just illustrates that, whilst we have fallen behind in the race to catch the Top 6, we are being overtaken by the rest of the field we were supposed to be better than.
Best of the Rest? I think not.
Sad mate. Enjoy your stuff. Just wish you had happier stuff to report.
Would be happy to chip in opinions if you want to hear?
